the story to the pictures

A beach called Carita

Hey everybody,
we just came back (that was around four weeks ago when we wrote this text) from a trip to

Carita, which is a beach near the city of Anyer about three to four hours away from

Jakarta. We went there with 15 people, mostly colleagues from the Nusantara Stroke Center.

We rented an apartment there with a porch which steps ended directly on the beach.

We started our trip on Saturday at around 14:00 from the Nusantara Stroke Center with 3

cars, the four of us were driven by our bosses driver himself and accompanied by Frida,

the Speech Therapist in the Center, in one car, offered to us by Mr. Suhardi.
So we started our trip to finally see the Indian Ocean, which we longed to see so much,

and the driver did everything to get us there as fast as possible. We were bumping up,

down, left and right and at around 17:30 we arrived as the first group at our apartment

which, to our surprise was actually pretty luxury, well furnished and big, as we only paid

100 000 Rupies per person which equals about 8,50 Euro. So we got our first view on the

ocean and it was great, we all agreed that the whole way to Indonesia was worth that one

day on the beach. After we arrived we started to walk down the beach and got attacked by a

bunch of people who either wanted to sell us Batik stuff (indonesian traditional clothes

style), massages (spoken: Massass), or just make a picture of us, because they just rarely

see orang buleh (white people) around there. So after we have survived the first attack,

we saw the whole beauty of the beach, with palm trees and nice waves.
Back in the house the rest of the bunch has arrived and we started to prepare the food, it

felt like a real foodfest, the colleagues bought so much stuff and above all there was

plenty of perfect prepared, BBQed fish. In between we watched Australia and Japan playing

the Quarter-final of the Asia Cup. Japan won through the Penalties and the food was ready.
After the Diner everybody was going outside on the terrace, singing, playing music or just

watching and listening to the waves.
The Europeans enjoyed the taste of fine cold beer. The asians didn't even try ...ohhh

those muslims... or gave up after three sips of a heineken bottle which was shared by 4

people.......our last beer......ohhh those muslims
At around 1 o'Clock everybody went to bed, which was different to the rumours not on the

floor in the livingroom but actually a real two person bed in a seperate room, at least

for the boys.
For Sebastian and Tom the next day started at 6 O' Clock in the morning after a short and

noisy night provided by our obese bedroom companion which was snurking all night long,

when we get waken up by the words, come on it is already very late don't you want to play

some soccer?? Quickly a bowl of cereals as breakfast, into the bathing shorts and into the

water because they already stopped kicking the ball. The Waves were great and the joy was

endless. For 10 000 Rupia each of us hired a body board for a day and didn't stop riding

them. At around 7:30 Miriam and Katie had to be waken up and soon they joined us in the

water.
At around 14:00 we went back to Jakarta, all of us looking like lobsters because almost

all time was spent within the water either surfing the waves or driving banana boat and

the first sunblock was applied when we saw eah other getting red.
Nevertheless all was great besides the harassing sellers on the beach who would not leave

us alone with their never ending offers of merely all products and services one can

imagine.

A day afterwards we feel our whole bodies is saw and our neck is totally stiff from many

whiplashes (wavelashes), due the power of the days (waves) and every piece of clothes

feels like it is internally stuffed with sand paper because of our sunburns.
But it was all worth it, the next trip to the ocean is already planed and we all can not

wait for it.

So long, yours truly

the physiobunch
